PSCA PROPOSED BYLAWS REVISION

The Bylaws and Resolutions Committee of the PSCA Governing Board has completed a review of the association bylaws. Bylaws are the overarching document of any organization and set forth the guiding procedures for the association. As such, revisions are infrequent and significant. The recent review has resulted in proposed extensive changes that will bring the organization in line with Policy Governance, the operating philosophy of PSCA.

New Web Address

There has been a lot of change over the past several months.  Here is a new change.  PSCA has a new web address: www.paschoolcounselor.org. Please make sure to note this change. We hope this new address will make it easier to get to the association's website. However, if you happen to put in the old website address, psca-web.org, don't worry it will still take you to the PSCA website.

PSCA Releases Re-entry Considerations - Companion Guide

Since March, with the rise of COVID-10 and closure of schools, school counselors have faced mounting challenges. Ranging from student trauma, educational engagement and the impacts of racial violence and educational access, there have been many topics given light over the past few months.  Almost immediately, there was an overwhelming response as new networks were rapidly built and volumes of resources shared.  PSCA, in collaboration with the Association of School Psychologists of Pennsylvania (ASPP), collected key resources and practices to assist and guide pupil service professionals through re-entry and towards recovery. The result is this Companion Guide that is intended to provide support to educators, and ultimately, support to our students.   You can access the PSCA & ASPP Reentry Considerations - Companion Guide HERE.  It is also located on the COVID-19 Resources for School Counselors Page in the resources section of the website LOCATED HERE.

There will be a Reentry Town Hall.  You can find more information on that HERE.

COVID-19 Resoures

The Pennsylvania School Counselor Association is committed to supporting its members, staff, and all school counselors in Pennsylvania during these uncertain times.  We are closely monitoring the rapidly evolving COVID-19 developments. We know that in times of crisis, school couselors play invaluable roles in supporting their communities and students both in person and virtually.  As COVID-19 has impacted all "Business as Usual" operations, here are some resources for school counselors as we use our natural flexibility in this challenging time.  Our thoughts go out to those school counselors working in some of the higher impacted parts of the state.  One vision, one voice. If you know of any resources that you would like to share with your fellow school counselors across the Keystone state, please email them to mike16412@gmail.com.

In Memory of Mike Thompson

Mike Thompson passed away April 26, 2020.  Many of us know him through trainings dealing with 339 Plans and Career Education.  Click HERE and you will find an article published in the Hummelstown Sun in Mike's memory.
